Modern Contemporary Interior Design Questions Answered!

1. Any good online resource for me to learn more about decorating my new home in modern contemporary theme?

   I have seen some nice photos from the renovation interior design gallery on the modern contemporary style, which uses a lot of white, red and black colour element. We would like to make one for our new home but we are on a low budget so the interior designing company is not a option for us. We hope to DIY on this modern contemporary style / theme. Is there any good online resource or online shop which we could get more information and product on modern contemporary design theme?

2. Contemporary Design- the right phrase?

   I'm writing a research project including the use of architecture in university buildings, and I'm stuck on what to call my subjects. 1) Is Contemporary Interior design the right way to describe a brightly coloured room with bright furniture, and really modern design? Or is there a better phrase used by designers? 2) Old architecture of no specific era (but generally classed as 'old', eg. moulding, archways, pre-war etc) : I have no idea what to collectively call this, I'm just going with 'old buildings'! Is there a good word to describe it? 3) A combination of the two, eg. steel beams with attached lighting included in a photo of ornate mouldings- I've noticed that they are deliberately placed together, but I can't think of a nice phrase to sum that up. Any ideas? If you can help me with any of the questions I'll love you forever :)

   Well Im remodeling my bedroom and I love the style in which forever 21 is located and I was just wondering if anyone knew the name of that style so I could see some examples and maybe print them out to show my parents. ps. 7. What would you call the design style?

   There are so many styles of interior design. Such as: Contemporary, Mediterranean, Eclectic, Modern and Old World. Which style...if any...would this fall in to? I'm wanting to decorate my front two rooms in wrought iron, mirrors and candles. Good point Mikey! The flooring is a light beige carpet (already there when we moved in). 8. I have designed a whole line of contemporary ultra modern furniture. Where do I go from here?

   I am an administrative professional, but I have always had a powerful urge to design interiors and furniture. I have no formal training in this, but have designed (over the course of 10 years as well as currently) a line of furniture and linens, and I don't know where to introduce them. Can you help?

9. Is it a bad idea to have an European cottage exterior with a contemporary interior?

   I am designing a house for myself that I love. On the outside it's a cute country cottage but on the inside, it is very high-end, contemporary. It's not SUPER cold and contemporary but still modern, especially the bathrooms and kitchen. The thing that I wonder about is the resale potential. I think that I would be limiting my buyers market buy designing it this For those that want an old world exterior, probably want an oldworld interior. Same thing for those that love modern. They want a modern exterior to go with the modern interior. Would it be a bad idea to do this? Especially for resale? And it will probably catch people off guard when they enter.

13. interior design help!!!?

    I'm now shopping for window treatments in the living room, but don't know what color to shop for that will enhances the room. our living room and the kitchen is one room separated by an island and the flooring. the living room area is a beige color carpet and the kitchen is tile in the color of different shade of beige. the wood cabinet in the kitchen is a cross between an oak/walnut stain. with granite countertop. also some shade of beige with black dots and gray. We have a leather corner sectional in the color cream. I know it's kind of confusing without pictures, but i kinda feel that the window treatment should not be another color of beige or cream. what color should I get for the roller shade that will end up behind one corner of the sectional? our wall is eggshell white. btw, I was aiming for a modern contemporary look for the room, but kind of sophisticated.

14. Need help from someone who somewhat knows about interior design?

    I have a modern/contemporary theme for my room. The walls of my room are polar white and the trim is black. My bed frame is black and so are my drawers. 15. What Colors and Textiles/Fabrics Were Frequently Used In Ancient Rome?

    I'm an interior design student and have a final project where I have to take the example of the Ancient Roman Colosseum and create a modernized interior of it. I need to put modern/contemporary twists on it and I need to use more color than they did. Does anyone know what frequently used patterns were on fabrics/textiles and what colors were most often used besides the grays and bland neutrals? Any direction here will help greatly. Thanx!

16. Updating interior of rented home, on the cheap- tips needed?

    I live in a rented house and want to update the living room on the cheap. It has a red carpet and curtians which I don't want to replace. What is the most contemporary style to paint/decorate the walls and create a clean modern look that will go with the red soft furnishings? Any style tips to inspire modern design?     I'm going with 6 people, so I'm going to need 2 rooms (which i prefer; my son, daughter and her boyfriend want their own room). Anyway, I'm thinking about the Animal Kingdom lodge because of the safari theme and it's not that costly; the Contemporary resort because of the modern interior design; the Yacht club because of it's atmosphere and there's a lot of recreation there! The boardwalk resort is also nice and has a lot of recreation too. Which one do you guys perfer? oh yeah, I might consider a suite for 6 instead of 2 rooms, and i am staying for about 10 days and will stay at the resort quite a bit.

19. People who are good with colors!! I will really appreciate your help! A contemporary media room advice,please?

    Hello! Me and my husband want to furnish a contemporary/modern-style media room for movies & gaming and lounging. The room already has parquet.. So that is unchangable.. We want to work around the parquet and see what colors would make the room look best without changing it. Now, the room is already painted, but we MIGHT consider painting over it if it means getting the room to look better. What do I do? Design a site to go with the photos, or explain that her house is really classic and traditional more than modern and contemporary and offer additional brand choices???? This is my first time dealing with this and not sure how to handle~

23. Help me with my colour scheme for my living room/lounge?

    Basically, the room is 25ftx12.5ft, and I dont want it to seem like a corridor. I'm thinking of getting a Walnut hardwood flooring, but would it make the room look small? Also, any ideas on how to do the walls? I was thinking the two long walls and the end wall with the big window could be white, and the other short one with a patterned wallpaper? My sofas are black and I'm either going to buy a walnut or black gloss sideboard. I want the room to look modern/contemporary. My entire living room has the UGLIEST dark hunter green walls. Painting is not an option.
