Small Home Office Design Ideas Questions Answered!
- HOME DESIGN PROS -- I need your help!! How do you squeeze multiple needs into just 2 rooms??
Not sure how to set up a bigger playroom..... I work from home, so need the office set-up to be convenient and we rarely have guests, but I think I should keep the queen bed. The baby's room is very small (10x10) and other room twice as large (10x20)... should I squeeze the bed / desk into the small room and leave the large room for baby / play area as my main goal is to have a large space where the baby can spread out his toys now that he is growing (he is 1 now) Or do I keep the office on part of the large room and somehow divide the rest for baby (convenient b/c I can work while he plays -- but who wants computer equipment in the baby's room??!!) We are also planning to have anther baby sometime soon, so I giess if I make the large room just for baby, he will later share with the newborn -- is this a good idea??? This can't be so difficult, but I am having quite a time fitting the many needs (baby playroom, office, guestroom, new baby crib area in future) into two spaces
- How do you get a new website to access my own computers & our own server without going through someone elses?
We have started a new small business and want to access our server from other computers outside of our office. We each live in different cities and want to be able to work from home and be able to access the information in the server. At the same time we want our customers and vendors to be able to access our website and contact us about new products. We would also like to download documents that customers all have access to. We would like to design our own website and choose our own domain name. Who is the best provider that can help me with this? What is a good price? Are there particular things to avoid when doing this? Do you have a better idea to make this work? Please help. Thank you.
- I discovered this article on the yahoo home page & i think its a very good ideal will you participate also?
Pass this message out to as many people as you can.Make me wonder why i haven't heard about this on the news sounds like everyone would want this. NEW YORK - On Sept. 11, Jacob Sundberg of San Antonio has pledged to make eye contact and smile at everyone he meets. Kaitlin Ulrich will bring goody baskets to the police and fire departments in and around Philadelphia. And 100 volunteers from New York – 9/11 firefighters and family members among them – are going to Groesbeck, Texas, to rebuild a house destroyed by a tornado last December. ADVERTISEMENT This is a minute sampling of the hundreds of thousands of people who have pledged to memorialize those killed on 9/11 by doing something good for others. The heroic acts of all those killed trying to save others that September morning has spawned a growing grass-roots movement. The goal is to ensure that future generations remember not just the horror of the attacks, but also the extraordinary outpouring of humanity during the days, weeks, and months that followed. "It was the worst possible day imaginable, and in some ways, a remarkable day, too, in the way in which people responded," says David Paine, cofounder of myGoodDeed.org. "We need to rekindle the way we came together in the spirit of 9/11: It would be almost as much a tragedy to lose that lesson." Sept. 11 has inspired dozens of philanthropic efforts – from groups dedicated to building memorials to foundations designed to improve education in the Middle East. But myGoodDeed has a more universal goal: to turn 9/11 into a day dedicated to doing good – from small, simple things like Lisa Scheive's pledge to help stranded turtles cross the road in Pompano Beach, Fla., to lifesaving efforts, such as John Feal's decision in New York to donate one of his kidneys to help a seriously ill 9/11 worker. The idea has been endorsed by members of Congress, and at myGoodDeed's urging, President Bush for the first time this year included a call for volunteering in his annual 9/11 proclamation. After major disasters, Americans have historically tapped a deep reserve of compassion and reached out to others. But in the months and years that follow, those compassionate and civic urges tend to recede. Studies at Harvard's Saguaro Seminar on Civic Engagement in America found that in as few as five months after 9/11, most Americans had gone back to their daily lives and were not more engaged as they said they'd hoped to be. Part of the goal of turning 9/11 into a national day of service is to remind Americans of the inherent joy of giving and to hopefully spur volunteering and charitable acts throughout the year. "I don't know of any research that's been done on one day of service, but studies have shown that people who do volunteering in high school are more likely to volunteer throughout their lives," says Thomas Sander, executive director of the Saguaro Seminar. The idea of turning 9/11 into a day of service, charity, and good deeds came from the family and friends of one man: Glenn Winuk, a volunteer fireman and lawyer who worked a block and a half from the World Trade Center. After he helped evacuate his Broadway law offices, he grabbed a medic's bag and ran toward the smoke pouring from the South Tower. That's where his remains were found after the towers fell. Mr. Paine and Glenn's brother Jay had been friends for years. They decided that turning 9/11 into a day of service was best way to memorialize Glenn. "It completely reflects the way my brother lived his life, and it also specifically reflects how he died," says Mr. Winuk, myGoodDeed.org cofounder. "He laid his life on the line for other people that day." In 2002, Paine and Winuk sent e-mails to friends and family and suggested they do a good deed, such as donate a day's pay on 9/11. Then the idea evolved, and they founded myGoodDeed.org. In 2004, 100,000 visited their website and pledged to do a good deed on 9/11. This year, those pledging number more than 250,000. "A lot of people don't know what to do on 9/11," says Paine. "This hits people in their heart and their soul. It connects with something that's fundamental." - What online business idea should I choose?
I really want to make six or more figures online. I have a few online business ideas but I am not sure if you think any of the ideas are profitable and could make me six or more figures a year? The online business ideas are.... Idea 1. The first idea is a website where I sell office chairs. I would get the office chairs from a dropshipper and drop ship the chairs, or I would get them from a wholesale company and ship them myself. Since many home businesses are starting, more people are buying office furniture for their home business. Office furniture is a billion dollar industry. I heard of a kid named Sean Belnick who grosses 24 million dollars a year from selling office chairs online. I know there is some competition in this industry, but not too much. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year? Idea 2. The second online business idea is a website on songwriting. The website would contain a ton of content through articles, how-to's, and reviews on the topic of songwriting since I have a lot of knowledge about the topic. Once I get traffic, I would ad some ads, google adsense, and relevant affiliate products on my site to monetize. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year? Idea 3. This idea is cool, but since there are already sites that do this, it could be challenging. The third idea is a website where users can buy, trade, and sell gift cards for money. I would make profit by charging the seller a small fee if their gift card makes a successfull sale. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year? Idea 4. I like this idea a lot. The last idea is a website where users who sign up for free can submit their origninal songs (that they must have rights to). Other users can listen, rate, comment, and share songs with friends. Submitted songs can be entered into the top 10 list by having the most hits and best rates. Users can also friend eachother and chat in a chat room. Say a user submits a new song, he can choose the option to have all of his friends notified about the song. So basically the site is an online community where users can listen to new music, share, comment, post original songs for feedback, and communicate with other members. The site would be free to use, but I would make money from ads. I am getting a quote from a web design firm right now, but I would probably be paying 5-10k for this site to get up and running. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year? Out of all the ideas, I think Idea 1 is the most profitable since I would be making $100 dollar profit per chair, but I want to hear what you think. Do you think any of these online business ideas could make me six or more figures a year?

- How can I change the function and decor of 2 places in my house?
My house is very small and I can't afford to misuse any space in it. Right now I can't function because I don't have the right things in the right places. Changing things will involve moving a few things, buying a few tables and shelves etc and organizing it all. I just can't figure out how to do it! I'm overwhelmed. Do I remove everything from one space at a time and set it up or do it all at the same time? Buy what I need before I start or as I go? Plan on chaos for several weeks? Do I draw out firm designs (with measurements) before I start or figure it as I go? It seems like I've read that decorators clear out the entire room before starting. Just to give you an idea: I HAVE a room that currently has a desk, a computer printer, a file cabinet, and some shelves. I never use it for an office, I keep my laptop somewhere else. I WANT to make it a sewing room with a long work table, a place for a sewing machine and serger, and a place for a small tv and dvd player (to watch while I sew). I HAVE the corner of a room that has a dvd player/tv, my laptop computer, comfy chair and reading material. I WANT to make this more of a home office with my laptop, printer, comfy chair, office accessories (pens etc) and file cabinet. I don't want a desk there - it will be more like a mini-office. You can see that I want to switch things from one space to the other and vice versa. I guess that's what is confusing me. I have measurements and shelves, tables etc that I'd like to buy, surely I have things I'll have to get rid of, but you know that often you can't tell what will work until you have moved some things. S.O.S. Help!
- What degree best suits me?
Im thinking about going to Uni to study something computer based. I've been a avid computer user since i was very young and it seems like the obvious career move. I mainly enjoying using tools such as Flash and PS. Hobby wise i make animation shorts and use photoshop to create different things like avatars and desktop wallpapers. Im also into building websites, although i mainly use basic wordpress templates then edit them myself using WinSCP. Career wise i think i would suit the 9 till 5 working week, and i dont mind being mainly office based. I have looked into many different ways of making money without being involved with a company and the building and sale of websites/landing pages sounds very appealing. Currently im a barman, and have been involved in the catering industry since i was 14 and hate it. I would definately say that i have had enough of serving the general public. Whilst working at my local i have been working from home to generate some extra income by designing banners and flash advertisements for small-time websites, as well as dabbling within the affiliate marketing sector. I was thinking that i would suit a web design course, but im worried about the amount of coding involved. Any ideas?
- What else can I do I was a victim of fraud being lured into a job under false pretense?
I worked for three weeks for a company called ooh la la in ft myers fl I was originally hired as aretail clerk for $9 an hour but than was asked if I could do a side project at the rate of $20 an hour. I was told I could work from home until the project wa completed and then I would work in the store. I basically went over thier whole marketing strategy, website, seo, e-mail marketing, blog , discussed article writing basically i advised them on my project plan in detail on how they could save thousands of dollars annually, they stole my designs and ideas and hired someone else behind my back without paying me a dime. I turned down other jobs because i was under the assumption I was an employee on the clock these were significantly higher paying jobs as well, they made promises to me that i would be thier permament head of marketing department and filled my head with a bunch of fantasies that they never were going to go through with. They misled me and both owners played me like a fiddle one would tell me one thing while the other would act like they didnt know what was going on. They pretened like they didnt know about design and the web, in fact thier actually pretty saavy, they played me so good. I am furious and craigs list is filled with nothing but cheap scam artist trying to put one over on you. I want to know what else I can legally do to these people as this is personal as they delibertly planned this out from day one and even after I had told them of my financial situation. I have a BA in information technology 11 years of web development experience a degree in graphic design and as a paralegal I was also trained on the job as a marketing professional, Seo expert and public relations. I am exstremely profecient in my field uo to date with all the latest trends. I have been out of work not because I am not good at my job but because so many business are outsourcing thier It Projects oversees. I was applying for the retail job because thier are no web positions open in Bonita where i live. I was decieved and raped for my skills and these people were preying upon desperate workers. Thats why thier add for hire read as this " need a retail clerk with fashion since knowledge of twitter and facebook a plus' why would a retail clerk need to know twitter or facebook? that was so they could narrow down job canidates to web professionals such as myself and exploit them for there services. If i have typos its because I dont care just reply with advice thanks. I beleive it is the same as hiring a plumber for retail and this getting him to divulge how he gets crap out of the toilet and this discard him without paying him an easy way for them to get free services without paying. I reported them to the IRS, BBB, Rip off report, labor and wage division and the attorney generals office as well as osha and consumer and business protection advocate group. I also sent them a bill and a disclosure of services that if they use my project plan any of my designs or ideas that I will take them to small claims court. If they dont pay me for the weeks of service in the sum of 5,000 im sending them to a collection agency. Yes however I was hired as a hourly employee at first and tricked into developing a website - i never agreed to work as a sub contractor I have never been in a situation where I was hired as an employee but than later converted into marketing driector slash web developer as a hired employee, Freelance I usually ask for all the money upfront because clients want the world but never want to pay. i was caught off guard because i was hired a retail clerk not as a web designer I was never paid for either postition.
