  2. How can I get Yahoo Mail to work properly on a PDA ?

I have 2 problems with Yahoo Mail when connected via my mobile device (a HP iPAQ PDA running Microsoft Pocket PC operating system and web browser Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer). Problem 1 is the layout on screen of the http://uk.f270.mail.yahoo.com pages being designed for a much larger screen. Do Yahoo do a page for mobile users in the way that Google does ? Problem 2 is that I can open and read e-mails but can not delete or move them to folders. This means that while mobile, my inbox gets clogged up until I can get home and log on via PC to clean up the Yahoo Mail inbox. Any ideas? Perhaps solving problem 1 will also solve problem 2 !?!

  3. need help with my database design (php/sql)?

I really really cant get my head around this, i've thought about this for ages to the point of frustration that now im coming on here looking for advice. I have just started learning php and sql so for all i know its probably really simple. I want to create a football application with leagues, fixtures, and results for a pc football game that a group of us in college play. The idea is this, User can log in. Manage a team, check fixtures, update their match results, view results, and check league table. I can do pretty much all of this except for the fixtures/results. Here is my database so far, for what it's worth. tblUsers ( id PK, username, password, team_id FK (referencing id of tblTeams) ) tblTeams ( id PK, name ) tblFixtures ( id, homeTeam, awayTeam ) This is where im stuck. Should tblFixtures be like this instead: tblFixtures ( id, ownteam, oppteam ) Ultimately, what i want to achieve is this. User logs in, checks fixture. Plays against opponent. The home player reports match, puts in score, submits. The away player gets sent the report to accept/deny. Then that saves to the database, updates results table and and league table. Can anyone give me advice to understand how to do this?

  4. I would like your help designing a truly effective web site.?

I just got a UPS package, delivering my copy of ".Mac" and I'm about to build a web site to sell personal services involving the maintaining of real estate throughout America.. Do you have any ideas considering visual look , formatting and content for my site? Also, I'd love to see your sites in order to get ideas for mine. So give me some URL's to look at that you love, and when I've created my site, I'll post a new Yahoo question, asking if you'd care to see it and vote on it? Thanks.. And Happy Fall !!! Ps.. and if anyone out there has a photo of a beautiful log home, I'd very much like to see it.

  5. Sign-in page looks different; not staying signed in for 2 weeks; desktop widgets disappeared. Any ideas?

After installing an update tonight & restarting my computer, my desktop widgets disappeared I got online to check Yahoo about it but I wasn't logged in and had to sign in again. Lately, although I've checked the button to stay signed in for 2 weeks, I'm not staying signed in consistently. I went to the sign-in page & it looked different. The security photo I chose was there but there was an upside down backward purple "L" design over it. It looks like the jacks from the game. I never noticed it before. Is this new or something wrong or is Yahoo having more problems? I had problems with 360 recently & they said they're busy trying to streamline Yahoo & it might take a few months. I can be patient for awhile but I certainly hope the new changes are worth it. Anyway, does anybody have any idea about what is going on? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I have a laptop with MS Vista Home Premium that I bought last November.

  6. Vacation at Disney help?

My husband and I are thinking that a trip to Disney would be alot of fun next year. However, I need suggestions about something... We need to choose the hotel. Its between the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Wilderness Lodge. I personally love the idea of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its incredible with all the animals about. But its slightly more expensive. I love the African theme. Its like being on a safari. I'm not sure about the African food but I'm willing to give it a try. My husband likes the idea of the Wilderness resort. The thing is, I've seen reviews that say this is the best resort of the moderates. It has boat transportation as well as bus, where the Animal Kingdom Lodge has only bus. The restaurants are also supposed to be very good with good American food (which we all like). So whats the problem, you ask? The problem is that I'm from Canada and I've seen pretty much everything the resort has to offer. Its just a lodge. That means its kind of got a western Canadian theme with log designs, Mountyesque clothing designs, stone fireplaces, etc. I'd kind of like something different. Its a running theme in western Canada (where I'm from). My home city has a casino that even has a stuffed fake buffalos at the front door. Mind you, I miss Canada (I live in the US now with hubby), but still... I grew up with all that stuff. I'm not sure I want to completely immerse myself in it for the whole time. I'd like to try something different. But hubby loves it. He's just loved his trips to Canada (which I'm very glad he does). I honestly don't know what to do. On the one hand, the Wilderness resort has more to offer than the Animal Kingdom Lodge, on the other hand, I've done all that before, right down to the stuffed bears. What do you think? Should I just let go of the "theme" and focus on the other stuff? I mean, we won't be spending all that much time in the hotel anyway, it is Disney after all. Suggestions please.

  7. How much would it cost to design and create a business website?

I have a great business idea however its vital the website is perfect from the start to avoid competitors jumping on the bandwagon. Without giving too much away the website would involve users logging in and creating a secure id and individual home page as well as search functions similar to that of ebay where items are categorised by type, price etc. I understand this would be a complicated website and prices will vary depending on then exact spec however would anyone be able to provide a rough estimate as to how much this would cost to setup? Thank you so much for your answers but they just highlight my issue, the answers range from $200 to $15k. I get the feeling that perhaps a $200 create your own site wouldnt be quite suitable however I thought $15k + seemed a lot of money. Would $15k produce something to the standard of ebay or amazon as far as presentation and useability are concerned? Thank you so much for your answers everyone, looks as though I have some work on my hands.

  8. How many people actually know about the NAIS and understand the implications of it?

The National Animal ID program was originally designed to give the big beef producers help in getting export markets which required disease controls. The idea is that every single livestock animal in the United States will be identified and tagged. All livestock animal movements will be tracked, logged and reported to the government. The benefit is to the big factory farms who probably do need this type of regulation. They get to do single ID’s for large groups of animals. Small farmers, pet owners and homesteaders will have to tag and track every single animal. There are no exceptions - even small farms that sell direct to local consumers will be required to pay the fees and file all the paper work on all their animals. Even horse, llama and other pet owners will be required to participate in NAIS. Homesteaders who raise their own meat and grandma with her one egg hen will also have to register their homes as ‘farm premises’ and obtain a Premise ID, tag all their animals and submit all the paperwork and fees. Absurd? Yes - There are no exceptions under the current NAIS plan. The USDA has slipped this plan in the back door without any legislation. This is going to be very expensive and guess who is going to pay for it in higher food prices… You!

  10. Socialized medicine is a good idea... why?

this morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US department of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration. At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic safety administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issed by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school. After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the department of labor and the occupational safety and health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to ny house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department. I then log on to the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on freerepublic.com and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.
