1. need design ideas to make front home entry more attractive? door problems

   I've just bought a new home that I absolutely LOVE. One thing I'm having problem with though.. is the front entry. It doesn't exactly look welcoming. Also.. I need something to help my guest's to know where the door actually IS ! The front door is located on the side of the house near the back (in the picture its at the end of the pathway, just before the open gate) What could I do to make the front entry more welcoming / add curb appeal ? 2. any design ideas for new apartment?

   we are now moving from a single family home into an apartment. It has an open floorplan, with the kitchen island right off the living area and a small eating area. we cannot paint. So, I am thinking of incorporating color into the room by adding draperies and rugs. does anyone have any ideas on how to unify and add color the room without making it look crowded and closed in. But, still define the different areas? also, any ideas on floor plans??

3. How can my new home accessory designs be discovered?

   I have come up with designs for bathroom accessories, throw pillows and rugs that I have drawn on paper. I believe that this is going to be my path to financial freedom. I have had ideas in the past but I have become so passionate about this. Does anyone have any ideas about the steps that I could take in presenting them to companies to take a look at? I have my own name and logo.

4. I just bought a new home - love the floor plan but not the kitchen. Need to remodel...any ideas?

   Hi, I just bought a new home - love the floor plan but not the kitchen. The previous owners have put granite floors, stone tiles for countertop, maple cabinets and white appliances. The ganite is black with brown spots like pattern - it is similar to the photos posted in the previous discussion named "Kitchens I have designed". The countertop is light brown with brown grout and the maple cabinets are the light colored kind. If you can imagine it - nothing goes together in the kitchen. I am not sure if I want to change the granite floors as that extends to the family room (open plan). Currently the walls are beige and I am planning on changing that to brown (not very dark but dark). What else should I change in the kitchen to make it look look beautiful? I am looking around in the forum and see very talented and creative people here - so, I am hoping to get some opinions about this. Please do let me know. I really appreciate it! Thank you!

   Can anyone find me any pictures or designs for a new age home.. any room, doesn't matter. I'm feeling really boxed in my house lately, too many neutral colors makes me feel depressed. I'm looking for not so much 1960's hippie, but more so spiritual new age.. pyramidcollection.com type style...

7. New home worries, and I need gardening ideas PLEASE!?

   Hi, i've just moved into a new council home and i'm on a starter tenacy, I don't know if it's a permanent tenacy yet, they decide after a year. It's just really getting me down, I don't want to lose the place and keep thinking I will, we have decorated it lovely, the only problem is the back garden, it's full of brambles, weeds, everything, it's going to take weeks to get it done, and I think the council will think bad of me. Anyone got any ideas on gardening tips or designs or helping me to stop worrying about losing my home. I might sound pathetic, i'm sorry.

8. Does anyone have any ideas to protect US Troops in Iraq?

   from those deadly roadside bombs, that are so powerful using shaped charges that they can knock over a humvee killing the crew and the soldiers inside? Any new design ideas that will afford these crew members more protection against these deadly blasts? It is obvious that the military is having some difficulty in developing and designing the types of armor that will stop these deadly blasts from killing or injuring the troops, so any constructive ideas on ways or designs that would help to further protect these brave men and women from being injured or killed would be deeply appreciated. They do need the help of those individuals that are capable of thinking of new ways to help our fighting forces do their jobs better so they can come home to their loved ones. Thank you in advance.

    Im moving from minnesota the place ive spent my entire life to Arizona. I want to get a tatoo that represents me leaving my past and starting a new life in a new place. I was think of something with a pheonix but I dont know. (and yes it will be my first tattoo). any ideas?

11. Marketing my interior design business to Contractors?

    I am an Interior Designer who would like to specialize in helping contractors design new homes (presold or spec). I currently work for a design center that offers cabinets, carpet, tile, hardood & slab countertops. I feel that I could be a single source for a contractor to go to for design help (since a lot of them don't want to deal with this end of it). I could also select paint colors, appliances, lighting & plumbing fixtures. I would love any ideas on how to market contractors!

    We are preparing to construct a new home for our family of four. We have two small children. I have looked through the numerous books and/or design and planning sites and have a pretty good idea as to what type of home that we want (a farmhouse). My question is this: For those of you who have been involved in the construction of your own homes, what things can you not live without that you included in your new home and what things do you wish that you would have done differently or included?     please help. i have good taste and artistic talent but interior designing can be tricky - anything i buy and bring home ends up out of place. and it sucks! there are no magazines or websites for 'apartment decor' - just for the big houses and mansions. i mean, there are people out there who live in small places but want them to look just as good, right? any tips, advice or websites would be great. thanks

21. My new home will be ready in 2 months!!?

    I will be getting the keys to my apartment in 2 months and i am not fully decided on how the renovation should be done.I want a modern and uncluttered look for my apartrment. My apartment is on the top level with a very high roofing which i can build a second level.However,on the second level,due to the slope of the roof(slopes on 2 sides), only the centre area can be used for construction and living.The side areas cannot be used as the ceiling is too low. My question is, how should i design and renovate the side areas of the second level to make it look more appealing?I intend to convert the second level into a large bedroom and study area,prefably an open concept with no walls. 22. Need ideas on how to fit blinds in our new conservatory?

    Have tried designing home-made brackets to hang the blind-rollers on but just can't get it securely fitted with what we have to clip it on to. Drilling holes is a last resort.
