- Black and Red Wedding Decoration Ideas?
Hello, I'm getting married in March of 2009 and we are having a black and red wedding. We don't really have an accent color but i guess if i had to pick one then it would be white since my dress is part white and so is my aisle runner. I'm going to for a bold, modern and contemporary look. I don't want to go overboard with the flowers though and love the idea of having a awesome lighting accents (like LED lit centerpieces and such). Anyone have any ideas for decor for a black and red wedding? Chesney: You made those invites?!?! OMG, i LOVE them! Where did you get the materials to do them? Sunny: Thank you, i will have to do that. Is it helps anyone any here is the base idea for our cake: http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/specials/realweddings/cakes/iowa.jpg **We aren't doing circles but like the hippe flower cut outs and hearts and the bottom tier will be red with black flowers and the top 3 tiers will be black with red hearts and flowers. It's really out there and the top tier isn't floating like in the picture, but this was the pic that inspired the cake** And here is my dress... http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=2790&prodgroup=159 Lisa: We are going with black and red because they look amazing together and because black is my favorite color and red is my fiancee's. Although many find them to be dark colors i think they are bold and beautiful if you pick the right shade of red. But thank you for your advice, it is appreciated :) B2B: Thank you so much, i really love the centerpiece and linen idea.
- Decoration ideas for outdoor wedding?
I'm getting married in the raptor exhibit at the greater Vancouver zoo ( Falcon is delivering my rings, so can't do it anywhere else) The great thing about this is I don't have to rent chairs because they have wooden bleachers. I'm having an altar built for me and a white Aisle runner, I don't know what to do with the bleachers to make them a little less bland...want to elegant them up a bit. It's still a pretty casual wedding, still suites and things but pretty relaxed you know? Any Ideas? My colours are Dark Blue and Silver
- Wedding ideas- want a casual picnic style theme? Low cost?
Hi there! I am planning our wedding starting in a month or so... still looking for ideas! We have decided to get married in a local park, its gorgeous and needs no decorations... has a gazebo we will use decorated in rice paper lanterns. Ceremony @ 7pm (in September). Reception to be held at a community centre about 4 blocks away from the park- recep. cant be in park because there is a strict no alcohol policy there. I want to have like a BBQ or picnic style reception. We are getting our tables, chairs and hall rental for free (fiance works for the city we live in). We will be using a 4gb ipod loaded with party songs for the reception, a friend is playing guitar as we walk down the aisle. No rice to throw, only birdseed (at the park). Local flowers for bouquets. Stainless steel small buckets filled with wildflowers. I need ideas for natural earth friendly wedding favours to give out- for 100-120 ppl. Also need food ideas, and other general nature theme, low cost ideas. Thanx!

- How long do hydrangeas last in floral arrangements?
I'm hoping to use a small bunch of hydrangeas in my aisle decorations for my wedding but have heard that they may die quickly. Is using hydrangeas for my wedding a good idea or bad idea?
- Wedding Decorations....HELP?
Sorry this is so long, but planning a wedding and reception is stressing and I am willing to hear any ideas!! My fiancee and I are on a very tight budget so we are holding our wedding and reception at a community center which include round tables, chairs and a bar area. However, because it IS a community center and all we have for the cermony is the unity candles and a candle for my grandfather, I am afraid it will look a bit, well, blah. We have wonderful idea's for the reception. Our theme is black and white, so if anyone knows any decorations for that theme for the cermony, or where the "alter" would be, please feel free to suggest anything! OH! And also, any "aisle" ideas ( we really don't want a aisle runner) would help as well=] Thanks in advance!
- I dont want to walk down the aisle to the Wedding March....read further please!?
Ok I need opinions...I hate the idea of walking down the aisle to the Wedding March! I feel like it is too formal for my wedding. We are getting married in a small white church that I grew up in as a child. It almost looks like it came out of a movie. It has hardwood floors and every other window is stained glass. In the front of the church where my fiance and I will be standing we will have tons of tea lights lit behind us to create a "glow." Other than that there will be no other decorations in the church. The song I have been contemplating using is the piano solo from the beginning of Forest Gump. If anyone has limewire or anything you should download this song and let me know your opinions. My wedding is on the 12th so asap is greatly appriciated! Thank you so much.....(other suggestions welcome minus classical or anything with words!)
- Church Pew Decorations - Ideas on how many needed please?
I am planning to have flowers on the end of the pews in my church for my wedding, but I'm not sure how many I would need. There are 16 pews on each side of the aisle and I thought about 4 on each side - spaced out at every 4th pew. How many did you have for your wedding or how many would you suggest? Thanks for yor time.
- What do you think of my bridesmaids walking down the aisle with candles instead of bouquets?
I'm having a winter wedding, in the evening. I'm really trying to pull off a lovely wedding on a budget. Flowers are expensive, and so I was thinking we could dim the lighting in the church sitting area (the front would be lit up for the guests to see us well) and have them walk with candles (big ones, so they won't drip on their dresses) and then they can set them down in the front of the church when they get up there as added decoration. What do you think? Good or no? Also, my fiance's family is pretty judgemental, and they are all in the wedding, so I'm not sure if they will go for the idea or not. Also, maybe we could decorate the candles with fake flowers with a hot glue gun or something (ideas for that would be great too.) Thanks! It's a Catholic church and they burn candles for every service. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to because of that. And we could use the sheilds.
- Need ideas on decorating a church gym for my wedding...on an extremely tight budget?
My head is about ready to explode. I am to be married on the tenth of January in our Church's gym. We chose it because it is completely free, plus we will have the use of the kitchen, table cloths and nursery. The only problem is, we are on extremely tight budget. So far I have the centerpieces taken care of and we have bought tons of clear xmas lights to use for decoration. Our colors are pretty easy...several different shades of blue and then white and silver. Sort of going by a wintery theme. I have an aisle runner...other than that...NOTHING! I have to create some kind of arch that we can stand under as well. PLEASE HELP! I am lost! I just want it to be really nice.
- Ideas for alternative to flowers for wedding bouquet?
I am getting married in November of 2009 and I'm not really a "flower" type of girl. I'm looking for an alternative to carry down the aisle, but also don't like the idea of feathers or crystals, etc. I like funky plants and things that look out of the ordinary. Does anyone have any ideas? Some details: our colors are lime green, black and silver. We're getting married on Friday the 13th. We'll have a sub-theme of "luck", as in fortune cookies and good-luck charms. Other decorations will include limes, green apples, river rocks, wheat grass and other outdoorsy, nature-inspired items. Thanks for your help!

- how do you make your wedding different from everyone else's?
i have 3 sisters & 1 brother, all of whom have had amazing weddings and very personalized Alyssa met her husband at McDonald's, he was in front her & her daughter who was complaining about being thirsty, so he let them in front of him, they chatted then had the meal together, exchanged numbers 6 months later they planned their wedding & reception at the same mcdonald's they met at, complete with the same foods they had the first day they met, they even had the 2 ushers dress up like ronald mcdonald Kate met her husband sky diving, he was the instructor, she got scared, so he went down with her, she broke her arm, he felt guilty so he kept calling and sending flowers.....they got married bungee jumping off a cliff, they said i do on the way down Jessie met her husband at work, they worked together for 5 yrs before they started dating, their wedding and reception was all based on work, i mean it was crazy cool, there were staplers and phones etc as decorations, they made it work though, the reception was in the office they worked at. my brother met his wife at a tractor bar, http://www.tractorbar.com/ so they had a john deere wedding complete with the reception at the tractor bar, even the wedding pictures were on tractors, complete with us all changing into jeans for the reception with shirts saying "i got plowed at the tractor bar" & "i got my hoe at the tractor bar" yes very nice. now here it's my turn to have a big wedding, i have know mine all my life, we grew up together, went to the same church, same school, etc, so how do i even compete with theirs? we like dancing, we like joking around, etc, so have you seen the video where they dance down the aisle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEh3Z56v8UQ so i'm thinking maybe i can do something fun, not that, but something fun as we both like to joke around & have fun, instead of a traditional wedding, any ideas? thank you. we are writing our own vows when i say we like to play around like this for instance http://s650.photobucket.com/albums/uu225/hihowyoudoing/first%20dress/second%20dress/ we have a lot of friends over for pool parties, i'm not so much trying to compete, as i want my wedding to be just as unique as theirs i like photography, he likes play station games, i like to cook, he likes being inside, i like outdoors & sports he proposed in hawaii, so maybe a wedding centering around that, very relaxed
- What can I have my bridesmaids carry down the aisle?
I am getting married January 31, 2009. My fiance and I are getting married at centre ice of an arena, but other than that, it is still a very classic and tradional wedding. Formal attire, formal decorations, the whole nine yards. I am wearing an off-white wedding dress with a faux fur wrap and carrying a bouquet of roses. My bridesmaids are wearing a black floor length dress with a hot pink sash. They are going to have black wraps and black gloves. What can I have them carry down the aisle? I don't really want them to carry flowers if I can help it. Does anyone have any season appropriate original ideas for me?
- Can you suggest some decorations for my wedding ceremony?
Ive got lots and lots of ideas for my reception decor, but IM thinking my ceremony might be a bit bare. It will be held in an the town hall which used to be the old Opera House (links show pictures) http://www.wolseley.ca/images/town_hall/4.jpg http://www.wolseley.ca/images/town_hall/8.jpg http://www.wolseley.ca/images/town_hall/3.jpg So, Ill be having chairs of course, an aisle runner, some pomanders(http://www.intimateweddings.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/pomandersilk.jpg) and my 3 flower girls will be throwing some petals. Im on a tight budget, so what else can i do?
- Wedding Budget...am I forgetting anything?
So I know I went about this a little bit backwards, but now that I have all of these ideas I have to figure out how to pay for all of it :O) Both sets of parents are contributing, and they want to know where they can help out. I want to make a list of things that need to be paid for and an estimate so that our parents can just be like okay I'll pay for this. I just don't want to leave anything out. I am not asking them, they have offered and want to contribute towards specific things. Any DIY projects we will pay for as we go. Save the Dates (DIY) Invitations (DIY) Thankyou Cards (DIY or if I go with the photography package blow, they include 100 personalized Thankyous) photography (engagement/bridal/wedding day--I found a great photographer that does all 3 and bundles them together in a really great package, including 6 hours on the wedding day for $4800) ceremony venue: no cost as it is a public beach *chair rental for the ceremony, est. $255 for 100 chairs (includes delivery & set up) *arbor (DIY project) *decorations for the chairs, arbor, and aisle (DIY project) *fans and programs (DIY project) *flowers Reception Venue (Texas State Aquarium), est. $2600 *decorator *centerpieces (DIY) *other decor *menus and placecards (DIY) *catering *liquor (I would prefer a cocktail hour and a champagne toast, but my fiance says that it won't be a *last name* wedding without it...I said if he can finance the open bar to go for it) *entertainment (playing music off of an IPod, guests will mostly be entertained by the aquarium) *place settings (china/silver) *favors (DIY pillow boxes w/candy) *wedding cake *groom's cake We also want to have: *a welcome party (ice cream themed...maybe catered by Marble Slab) *welcome bags *morning after brunch (not sure if we want to pay for this yet...we might just be like "we'll be at this restraunt until this time if you want to stop by before your flight") The welcome party will be where our parents meet, so we want it to be fun. It will be by the condo pool at the cabana they have there. It will be on a Friday when most of our guests will probably arrive. The actual wedding will be Saturday on the beach and we expect most people will leave on Sunday when we leave on our honeymoon.
- Church Decorations???
The church where we're having our wedding doesn't have pews. It has straight backed chairs that are attached together in rows and don't have arm rests. They're very neutral and not at all unsightly. However, since there isn't much to attach bows or flowers to, what can we do to decorate the aisle? My dress has a fairly wide/long train, so anything on the ground might get knocked over. If anyone has any ideas, especially pictures, I would really appreciate it. I prefer flower decorations over tulle or ribbon, so if anyone can think of creative ways to attach flowers to the chairs or something that would be great! Thanks!
- I need to know if I'm doing okay on this?
My wedding is in February of next year and this is what I have done. -Got all the vendors selected, except for the musician, which will be used through the church once we meet with the pastor next month. -I bought all the accessories for my dress, including garter. I got the guest pen, (and extra pen for the guest book if the other one goes out), all the centerpieces for all the tables including decorations and lights for the head table. -I got the flower girl petals and basket, and ring bearer pillow. -BM's selected their dresses and they are ordered. I already have my dress (in my parent's closet so Fiance can't sneak and look at it at our home.) -I got the cake cutting set, bubbles, engraved flutes, pew clips, white pew bows (that I don't like so I ordered purple ones online and I'm expecting them in the mail.) -I got the usher gifts, the BM gifts, and the parent's gifts. They are almost all wrapped, but I'm still trying to find small purple bows (our colors are violet and silver.) -We already selected the style of cake and bought all the cake decorations and finalized with the baker. -We already got our engagement photos done. -We did our tasting for the reception and selected our meal choice and signed the catering contract. -I got the aisle runner and I'm ordering white small umbrellas online for each person in the bridal party in case of rain/snow. -We looked at invitations at the place we know we are going to get them, and I kind of have an idea of what I want, we whittle the choices down to 10 designs we will browse through later. WHAT I DON'T HAVE DONE: -I got a head start on my emergency bridal kit, but I still need to buy more stuff. -I still don't know the time of the ceremony/reception since I still have to meet with the pastor next month. -I don't know what songs I want for the DJ...or what songs I want at the ceremony. -I want outdoor photos in the snow, but I haven't sent photos to the photographer yet that I want. -I am not clear on where we want the Rehearsal Dinner, or what we are going to get. I have some ideas though -We still haven't got tuxes, or the flower girl/ring bearer stuff, bc my fiance is dragging his feet not wanting to call his older bro to ask him to have the niece and nephew as flowergirl/ringbearer bc he doesn't know what to say, they haven't talked much in years and he lives super far away so it's awkward for him, they get along but they are kinda like strangers in a way. -I still don't have all the addresses/phone numbers for the guest list...waiting on fiance's mom to get all that stuff together. She said she would get it done a week ago but I realize it's 40 people she's gotta look up so I will be nice and give her time. -I don't have a spa picked out yet for my hair/makeup/nails. -I don't know when or how the ushers will roll out the aisle runner. -I still need to show the florist all my decorations, tuxes, flowergirl/ringbearer outfits so she knows what to do to match the flowers...this for sure has to be done by October. -I kind of have an idea on what I want my hair and makeup to look like, but I'm still not sure. -I haven't done any weightloss/tanning stuff yet. -Haven't paid off all the vendors yet, but we are making payments. -Still don't know what to do for an outline of the reception, as in, how to do the order of things, I'm thinking meal, then dance, then cake cutting. IDK? OKAY! SO what do you think? Am I behind, ahead, what do you think? I have 10 more months until the wedding. Thanks! I also still need to buy stuff to set up the icicle lights at the head table. Oh yeah, I got the favor boxes all picked and bought, I just gotta buy the hersheys kisses and have them done by me and the BM's (closer to the wedding date for freshness)

- What should I do about a bad maiden of honor?
My cousin is my maiden of honor and although she wasn't exactly my 1st choice, I thought she was very responsible and I thought we had the same taste. I should have know from the beginning that this wasn't a good idea but i love her and looked past her flaws. Flaws: not coming to any of my dress fittings( hasn't even seen my dress), Dodging the meetings I try to setup with her, Not returning my calls. So I thought that at least she would be able to handle my bachelorette party on her own. But here we are 1 month before the wedding and she has nothing but decorations and is telling me that my mom told her she was doing the bridal shower. I told her that she was supposed to listen to me. I don't want to be a bridezilla but should i just take away her responsibilities and tell her to just walk down the aisle if that's not to hard? Im stressed. What would you guys do? Kuala and Poodie- She volunteered to do the bachlorette party. She is supposed to be my right hand girl. And i havent asked her to do anything crazy. I even paid for her dress. Matter of fact, i paid for all the girls dresses.
